Privacy Policy
Effective date: 17 May 2026
LUMEL is a macOS menu-bar utility that adjusts display brightness. The short version: the app collects nothing and sends nothing anywhere. This website (getlumel.app) uses one privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics measure, described below.
Data the app collects
None. The LUMEL app does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. No analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no accounts, no advertising. The app is sandboxed and ships without any network entitlement, so it is technically incapable of sending data off your Mac.
Data stored on your device
LUMEL saves your preferences locally using the standard macOS UserDefaults system: things like your last brightness level, battery threshold, enabled displays, and onboarding state. This information never leaves your Mac and is removed when you delete the app.
Permissions
If you choose to use the global keyboard shortcut, macOS requires Accessibility permission. LUMEL uses this solely to detect its own shortcut. It does not read, log, or transmit your keystrokes, and the app is fully usable without granting it.
Purchases
LUMEL is free to download. The optional LUMEL Pro upgrade is a single in-app purchase processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. The app never sees or stores your payment details — it only verifies a signed App Store receipt on your device to unlock the feature. No purchase data reaches us.
This website
The app and this website are separate. While the LUMEL app collects nothing, this website (getlumel.app) uses privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics from Vercel to count aggregate visits. It sets no cookies, stores no personal data, and does not track you across other sites. If you follow an email link, your own email app opens with a pre-filled message — nothing is sent unless you send it.
Children
LUMEL is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
